Ryan Ly

A respected presence in the television literary agent sphere, Ryan Ly has represented high-profile series, including Making a Murderer and Good Girls Revolt. Industry focused, Ryan Ly remains apprised of cable and streaming trends.

As reported in The Verge, a major development in the streaming sphere involves Disney’s planned fall 2019 launch of a platform that will debut in the United States before expanding globally. Featuring family-friendly fare, the platform will offer several original series and movies in the first year, with a live-action Star Wars among the anticipated offerings.

Instead of truly original content, Disney will rely heavily on adaptations, remakes, and established properties. A number of book adaptations are planned, including a contemporary take on Don Quixote, and a remake of Tom Selleck’s Three Men and a Baby is a planned. The streaming service will leave edgier R-rated material owned by Disney to Hulu, while Marvel series, which often feature violence, will remain on Netflix.
